Western São Miguel: the full-day route
A full day in western São Miguel, from the Sete Cidades crater and lakes to the volcanic coast of Mosteiros and Ponta da Ferraria, where lava cliffs meet the Atlantic.
Sete Cidades lakes
We stop at viewpoints over the crater and its two lakes, then visit the village inside the caldera. Stops can change with visibility: island weather moves quickly.
Mosteiros
From the lakes, we head to the west coast for volcanic cliffs, ocean views and time to explore the lava landscape.
Ponta da Ferraria
The final area is Ponta da Ferraria and its natural ocean thermal zone. Swimming is possible only when access and conditions are safe; it is never guaranteed.
